Bringing a fresh new sound to the traditional organ trio format by adding new electronic textures and new musical influences, The Energy Trio enjoys fusing together seemingly disparate elements of 60’s jazz, rock, latin, hip hop, funk and fusion to create a "musical loaf" for your ears to chew on.
Originally from Catskill, NY, Bob Powers (guitar/trumpet) has worked extensively in the rock and jazz idioms. Additionally, Bob holds a Jazz Performance Degree in trumpet from Arizona State University. Some influences include Scott Henderson, Pat Martino, Clifford Brown, and Brian Lynch among many many other great rock, jazz, and classical musicians.
Shea Marshall (B3/keyboards/sax) Originally from McMurray, PA (outside of Pittsburgh), Shea Marshall has been playing music since age 5, and has been performing since he was 12. His primary instruments are saxophone and keyboards, but he has also been known to perform on pretty much anything — mandolin, violin, harmonica, clarinet, flute, bass clarinet, bass. He has come to his style through the study of jazz music and partly through extensive work in areas just outside jazz, and is well known locally for his uniquely universal approach to the keyboards and saxophone. In addition to the Energy Trio, Shea Marshall is currently working with Bernard Purdie, ‘Papa’ John DeFrancesco, the Sugar Thieves, and David Hernandez.
Erik Teichmann (Drums) is currently working with: Yellowminute, The Latest, The Stork Hunters, Filthy McNasty, The Trilateral Comission, The Energy Trio, and Blue Tarp Party. Has also done work with The Jazz Robot, Novelle Bently Group, Mikel Lander, Michael Kocour, Baraka, Mosey Horse and Attack of the Giant Squid. Studied under Dom Moio, Joel Spencer, Michael Kocour, Mike Crotty, and Sam Pilafian.
